What Our Guests Say...
A very nice cottage with everything you need, a good base for visiting other areas. Just one thing wrong. We were not here long enough. Will stay longer next time.
A beautiful, well equipped and very comfortable. Enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Great the kids could could go to the green on their own in complete safety. Thank you Diane for making us feel welcome and showing us around. Can’t wait for a return visit!
A wonderful last minute break. Gorgeous cottage, lovely comfortable beds. Beautiful location and just to make it perfect - fabulous weather!
It has been a pleasure to stay in Inglenook Cottage. We have had a very relaxing few days & hope to be back to one of your wonderful cottages very soon. Many thanks Diane for your very warm welcome. It was very much appreciated. Excellent steak from village butcher.
Thank you Diane, Andrew and Rachel for a fabulous stay at Inglenook. The cottage is set in a beautiful location, extremely comfortable, wonderfully equipped to the last detail and professionally and faultlessly presented on arrival. Just follow any of Diane's recommendations for visits, shopping, eating out - you will have a splendid and enjoyable holiday. A personal recommendation is to finish with lunch at the Wensleydale Heifer - excellent and more relaxed at lunch time. The whole experience is far from customer service. It is guest appreciation and hospitality 'par excellence'.
Spent a lovely week here in the Dales in this stunning cottage. Weather perfect. Hope to return sometime.
Our third visit to Inglenook, 5th to West Burton. We’re getting older, but the qualities of the cottage and the scenery are ageless!
Luxurious & perfect! The best!
What a beautiful cottage. Everything was perfect - very comfortable and well-equipped. Great recommendations for eating places from Diane and we enjoyed many walks including Malham Cove at her suggestion. Black Sheep Brewery, Wensleydale Creamery and Bolton Castle - all well worth a visit. Thank you for a fabulous week. We love the Dales.
Really lovely and beautifully equipped cottage. Loved visiting the Dales towns and villages. Weather was sunny and warm. Village church very welcoming.
After living in Holland for 47 years, the first word that entered my head was 'Gobsmacked'. It's the perfect house, place and a mobile fish and chip van. 5***** holiday.
Another lovely week at Inglenook. We love the changes made to the cottage since our last visit. Many thanks to Diane, Andrew and Rachel. See you again next year.
A lovely, well appointed cottage in a beautiful village and delightful location. In a weekend full of highlights one of the most memorable was a lazy morning in the secluded garden enjoying flowers, birds and views. A great weekend. Thank you!
Returning to Inglenook for another resful & relaxing break is an absolute joy after the difficulties of the last few months! The comfort & cleanliness of the cottage is a constant in a changing world. Walked around Malham, Ingleborough, Thornton Rust. Many thanks Diane & Andrew. Special thanks to the cleaning team.
Beautiful house, wonderful surroundings, great weather - we’ll be back! Thank you Diane & Andrew, you’ve made this extra special for us. Felix loved the Forbidden Corner & Little Cow, Big Sheep farm.
Our first stay in this lovely part of the Dales. Beautiful cottage, all needs catered for. Lovely Diane is an absolute delight from start to finish. Thanks for everything.
What a stunning cottage and such a warm, warm welcome from Andrew & Diane. Thank you for everything. We will be back!!
So happy to be back after such a challenging few months. You couldn't have done more to make us welcome & completely safe. West Burton and the Dales have, as always, worked their magic - a fabulous 10 days.
We've been many times - and will be back! Such a superb cottage in a most delightful spot - at any time of year! Diane, as ever, a charming & helpful hostess - if that doesn't sound too politically incorrect! Great Shunner Fell a highlight & Swaledale - Muker to Keld.
Congratulations to Diane & Andrew on 11 wonderful years. We cannot think of a better place to stay. Highlights this time included snowman building on Easter Monday and the changing views with all the different weather we have experienced! Aysgarth Falls was amazing. We can't wait to return.
Fab, fab, fab!! - great stay. 5 star accommodation, superbly equipped, couldn't ask for anything better. Thank you x
A wonderful week. A beautiful cottage with every comfort. Wanted for nothing. All our walks challenging as the weather had been very cold, snow & icy. Our favourite days out were the Black Sheep Brewery, walking up Walden Dale & back; across and over the top to Carlton & back; Aysgarth Falls to Bolton Castle and back via Carperby. Thank you Diane for such a wonderful comfy place to relax. One of the best cottages we have stayed in!
We had a really great week. We especially liked the Theakston’s Brewery and the Forbidden Corner.
Thank you Diane for your flexibility before I arrived & all the thoughtful touches around the cottage that made one feel at home. I am sure to be back!
Another wonderful week at Inglenook - only one problem - it’s gone too fast! We had a fantastic meal at the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham - it’s well worth a visit.
Wonderful stay for Matt's 40th birthday. Warm and cosy and great recommendations. Summer loved the waterfall & we enjoyed all the local food. Diane was so helpful & ensured everything was perfect for us. Thank you!
Absolutely loved it here! Diane is so welcoming and every thought and care is taken to make your stay so wonderful. Fabulous and amazing place. We had the best of the weather! Went on lots of lovely walks and we definitely will return! Thank you so much.
Perfect! Nothing more to say.
After honeymooning here in 1996 we finally returned 20 years later with our children! Fantastic cottage, beautiful village. We will return. Thanks Diane x
Once again a lovely break at Inglenook. Plenty of walking - different every time. Recommend a walk along the 'Shawl' starting in Leyburn, walking to Redmire and the Little White Bus to return. Excellent! Thanks to Diane & Andrew.
A return visit to see family & friends in the North. Wonderful Christmas decorations. Thank you Andrew & Diane
Wonderful to be back in the delights of Inglenook - almost home from home. Thank you so much Diane for the warmth of your welcome - as ever xx
Another perfect Christmas. Again the cottage has been most comfortable, clean & welcoming - all we could ask for at Christmas. Diane & Andrew have been the perfect hosts. Their various tourist awards are most deserved, as their effort and care in providing 5 star accommodation & service cannot be faulted.
Another wonderful stay, our 4th, in beautiful Inglenook. Gets better every time! Recommend Wensleydale Cheese factory, lovely autumn colours at Thorp Perrow and cycling the Swale Trail from Reeth to Gunnerside. Make sure you meet Douglas the St Bernard at King's Head! Amazing fish & chips from the van on Wednesday after 'trick or treating' round the village. Overall a great stay at Inglenook and hope to be back soon!! PS. Thank you so much Diane and Andrew for making this cottage so special!
Absolutely loved the cottage. You have thought of everything! We have had a great time. Thanks for recommending the Scarecrow Festival. We had such a lovely time there. Would love to stay in your beautiful cottage again. Lovely to meet you also. From Ethan age 11 … Fantastic holiday, amazing location, an extremely serene and amazing cottage, beautifully furnished….and from Lydia age 4 - it’s nice.
Another wonderful stay in beautiful West Burton and the fantastic Inglenook Cottage. The property was immaculate as always with every conceivable guest requirement covered. The pre-stay communication from Diane was excellent as always - you feel that each email is personal to you rather than some mass produced template favoured by other companies. Weather was mixed to say the least, but we managed to squeeze in several new things such as the gardens at Constable Burton (nice way to spend an hour or so), Tennants at Leyburn (decent cafe and restaurant), Campbells at Leyburn (how have we missed this wonderful food emporium previusly!?), the Dales Countryside Museum at Hawes (interesting couple of hours) and the delightful has how round own to Kettlewell. Good food too at the Aysgarth Falls Hotel and SImonstone Hall and of course a good time to be had at the Fox & Hounds which following our stay is once again in profit for the year. On our last night they literally ran out of Pinot Grigio - guilty as charged your honour!
Another great week in the Dales. We managed to try some different things on our fifth stay! The Easter trail at Newby Hall was great fun for Megan (age 4) and the walk around Constable Burton gardens was great too. The Big Sheep Little Cow farm in Bedale is well worth a visit with children. A new find for us this time was the C.B. Inn in Arkengarthdale - lovely lunch at a great price. Inglenook Cottage was as good as ever. Roll on October half term!!
2020 has thrown its challenges at us. In the midst of lockdown I dreamt of coming back to Inglenook for my birthday. Here we are & once again Diane & Andrew have woven their magic & we leave feeling amazing. The cottage takes you in & wraps you up. Thank you!
What a restorative stay - just perfect. We deeply appreciate the efforts made to have Inglenook so beautiful. Stunning! Well done! Recommend spending time IN West Burton! Waterfalls beautiful. Stump Cross Cave a must!
A pure masterclass in customer service and how to run a luxury holiday cottage, Not our first visit and hopefully not our last. Big thanks to Diane, Andrew and Rachel.
Another lovely two weeks in Inglenook and warm welcome from Diane and Andrew. Everything perfect. Can't wait to book 'The Dairy' next time!! Thank you for making our holiday special as we know we will arrive at an outstanding cottage after a long journey! Love all the changes!
Superb accommodation as expected, having already stayed at The Byre. Log fire was perfect for dark January nights. Food at White Lion was excellent - see you in May!
Great time at Inglenook as usual with even better weather the we could have wished for. Interesting to see the waterfalls with less water than usual allowing greater access to paddle around this year. Also lovely to have had a longer stay this time - even more time to relax!
We were lucky to be able to spend Christmas in such a wonderful cottage & location. It certainly lifted our spirits after such a difficult year. Everything was just perfect & we really appreciated all the extra touches & the gorgeous decorations. The wine went down very well! Thank you for all your professional care & attention. Best cottage we have ever stayed in. Lunch at 'the Heifer' was a real treat! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you all (definitely getting a bread maker now!).
Third visit to Inglenook and has never failed to impress! Loved the fish & chips on Wednesday. Thank you Andrew and Diane for another fabulous and truly amazing stay at Inglenook Cottage xxx
We always look forward to our visits and are never disappointed. We had a lovely trip over to Skipton & lunch at Billy Bob's parlour - the girls loved the play areas. Thank you Diane for the recommendation! Thorp Perrow was good for an Easter Trail again. Fresh milk from the Home Farmer is also a great addition to the area. As always we could do with more time here in the lovely Dales.
Another excellent break in spite of the weather. Amazing how you are able to improve on the very high standard of comfort and luxury.
A beautiful cottage to stay in - thank you. We have had some gorgeous food while we have been here - Wensleydale Heifer, Blue Lion & Sandpiper Inn. Felt welcome wherever we went. Good butchers in the village. Best sausage rolls ever! xxx
Thank you Diane for your warm welcome & pre-holiday information to ensure we had another fabulous holiday in your wonderful cottage & the Dales. Even though we have had wind, hail, rain & snow on Penhill, we have managed to sit in the garden and admire the stunning views. The cycling & walking has been great as always, made even better with Inglenook waiting at the end!! Look forward to seeing you at The Byre in September for the World Championships x
Another wonderful visit to glorious West Burton. James Herriot called it the most beautiful village in the Dales and we agree. And when you have a property as immaculately presented as Inglenook to stay in, it's a match made in heaven. There was the usual warm and friendly welcome from Diane, who continues to provide an excellent service, having thought about every conceivable extra. We were fortunate with the weather and took full advantage of the garden - the views of Pen Hill as the light changes through the day are mesmerising. We will be back!
Our holiday at Inglenook was to quote the song "Simply the best". Thank you for the welcome tray, it was very much appreciated. Putting yourself out to come and take photos of us on our trike ride, especially as you had your house inspections on that very day - was above and beyond the call of duty & we cannot thank you enough Diane.
What a wonderful cottage and village! A true home from home & really don't want to go back to work. Love this place! The boys have played football on the village green every day. Great village butcher, shop and pub and so many enjoyable walks - worth a walk over the fields to Aysgarth Falls and the Mill teashop there for scones and cake. Mobile fish & chip an on Wednesday evening was a real treat. Thank you Diane and Andrew for everything you could ever want and more. We hope to return soon :)
Our fourth fabulous holiday at Inglenook. We have enjoyed the delight of the Yorkshire Dales and loved coming back to this gorgeous cottage and having a relaxing time in the garden. Thank you Diane and Andrew for all the book about the local history and amenities A superbly presented cottage which provides everything one could wish for a really wonderful part of our holiday.
Perfection! Every detail thought of. We arrived in need of rest, relaxation and recuperation & found it in abundance. Back to Derbyshire; restored and ready to plan our next visit. Thank you.
Deserving of every accolade bestowed on you. Wanting for nothing!! Love it & will be back x
Dear Diane, it was indeed a wonderful stay, magnificent view from the window of master bedroom, nicely maintained cottage with very nice crockery and everything one requires are there in your cottage. Thanks for your hospitality and the cottage is as wonderful as you.
Our second visit here and we loved it! The cottage is as beautiful as ever, thank you! We had a lovely meal at the Wensleydale Heifer (amazing) and many lovely walks. Our gamily are staying at the other 2 properties and they too are stunning! The kitchen was great to bake in. We made custard tart x
Thanks for a superb weekend. The accommodation has been the best we have stayed at in this country. It is truly a very high standard and we can easily see why you have achieved the awards.
We have enjoyed a fabulous weekend here at Inglenook Cottage. Superb weather for getting out and about to enjoy the Dales. We have never found a cottage to be so comfortable and well equipped. Thank you! PS. We can recommend the Sunday roast at the Kings Head in Kettlewell. The rest of the menu also looked lovely. A very busy pub so best to book in advance.
Our second visit to the Cottage's in the Dales, as before outstanding cottage. Thank you Diane for the lift to the Wensleydale Heifer - wonderful meal. Cracking walk in Swaledale too and our first trip to (walk) to Castle Bolton.
We've had a lovely week in Inglenook which certainly lived up to its reputation. West Burton is a gorgeous village. Highlights included red squirrel watching in Snaizeholme (near Hawes), primroses on the low level Muker to Keld path, the historic church at Wensley and the mobile fish & chip van on (Wednesday 19.50-20.15). Many thanks to the Howarths
Just what we needed - a relaxing break in a wonderful cottage in a lovely location. The cottage is perfect.
We were made most welcome by Diane & Andrew. We have had some fantastic experiences - feeding lambs, going in Castle Bolton & seeing 'All' the local waterfalls! William has really enjoyed it, as we all have. Hope to return.
A return visit for us and as lovely as ever, so welcoming, cosy and homely ... we still don't want to leave!! Thank you Diane for popping in to see us and for your recommendations. The Heifer and Brymor Ice Cream - so scrumptious! We will have to come back!
Very enjoyable second 'Cottage in the Dales' break. We'd recommend visits to Kiplin Hall, Levens Hall and the wildfowl reserve just before Masham.
Thank you Diane & Andrew for a lovely stay in your lovely cottage and garden. Village is so pretty and we have enjoyed lots of walks around Wensleydale and Wharfedale. We also liked walking to The Street Head Inn for an enjoyable evening meal. Thanks again.
Beautiful cottage. Warm welcome. Great weather. Brilliant walking from cottage. Friendly Yorkshire folk. Thank you for all information & suggestions.
Wow! What a beautiful cottage. It exceeded our already high expectations. It has everything you need - and some! Books and walking guided galore. We've loved the area. Perfect walks from the doorstep. Thanks Diane for your kindness. PS. Favourite restaurants - Aysgarth Falls Hotel & Wheatsheaf, Carperby. Favourite walk - Aysgarth Falls to Bolton Castle & back.
Another lovely week in one of our favourite places. We never seem to run out of things to do or tire of the great views. Once again we are now counting down to the next time!
Another splendid holiday. Highlights would include walking to the top of the hill facing the lounge and admiring the view back on West Burton. Also fantastic views off the route between Reeth and Askrigg. Thank you again!
Our first self-catering experience in the UK. Where do we go from here? Absolute perfection!
Another fantastic stay in what we consider to be the best holiday cottage in the UK. Diane has been brilliant as usual and has gone to extraordinary lengths to make everything Covid-Safe. The usual spotless nature of Inglenook has been taken to another level and, as a couple in a risk category, we both felt very secure indeed. We've had pretty decent weather and beautiful West Burton has looked great. The pub is open (yey!) and has good social distancing measures in place. Took advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and had an excellent lunch at the Sandpiper Inn in Leyburn. Highly recommended but note the scheme only operates on a Wednesday here. Sad to be leaving but we'll be back!
Can sum it up as perfect in every way.
When we booked Inglenook Cottage it looked lovely. It didn't disappoint and surpassed expectations. The attention to detail applied by Diane made our stay perfect. Even the snow on Wednesday didn't dampen our spirits. We would love to come back in the future! Many thanks from us all.
Another lovely stay in the fantastic Inglenook Cottage and we look forward to a return in 2017. Many thanks Diane for all your kindness.
Third visit to this lovely cottage in lovely village. We must come in the summer when we can enjoy the garden! Thanks Diane & Andrew
Another relaxing week at Inglenook, just what we needed. The cottage has everything we needed and is very comfortable, especially the beds. Although the weather turned wet, the log fire helped us forget this. See you next year!! Thanks for the apples - sorry we had no room to take them all.
A very welcome return to our favourite place after a strange year. Lovely trips to the Himalayan Gardens and Thorp Perrow. Lots of great walks, much needed to offset the lovely creamy milk and cheese from The Home Farmer! Steak from Campbells as good as always. All in all a great week. Thanks to Diane as always - there must be extra work behind the scenes but the stay at Inglenook is just as good as ever. Easter 2021 cannot come soon enough!
Lost count of times we've stayed in Craggley and Inglenook - gets better every time!! Refurbs brilliant. Walked every day, repeated our favourite Great Shunner Fell from Hardraw again. Thank Diane for everything, include attention to detail and warm welcome.
Another very relaxing visit to Inglenook, this time with our daughter and new granddaughter. Thanks Diane for the exceptional presentation of the cottage. A haven in difficult times for all.
We love West Burton and Inglenook is the icing on the cake. Diane is an absolute joy to deal with and she has created something very special here. We've had an excellent week with great weather and ensured the Fox and Hounds stayed in profit for another year! Particular highlights were Brimham Rocks (take the route via Kettlewell - spectacular, the Creamery and Hardraw Force, along with great lunches at the White Lion at Cray & Simonstone Hall. Finally do not miss the fish & chip van on Wednesday evenings - some of the best we've ever had. We'll be back!
My first visit to Inglenook but hopefully not my last - the cottage is perfect - a wonderful few days - thank you x
A perfect Christmas break. Excellent cottage, comfortable, clean and very cosy & lovely Christmas decorations. It certainly meets its 5 star standard and Diane is to be congratulated on the well deserved 'Best Yorkshire Self Catering Accommodation' 2016.
A relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings in an extremely comfortable cottage. A fabulous walk to Aysgarth Falls and a great base to explore the Dales. Thank you!!
We have been looking forward to our holiday at Inglenook Cottage all through lockdown and it certainly hasn't disappointed. The cottage is so clean & comfortable with everything you could possibly need to make your stay amazing. The weather has been very kind to us as well and we have enjoyed days at Bolton Abbey and Thorpe Perrow as well as numerous walks & waterfalls. The Aysgarth Falls Hotel is really good for Covid restrictions & the food is excellent. Thank you Diane & Andrew for your hospitality, attention to detail and making us feel safe, also to your housekeeper and cleaning team. We hope to return asap!
We had a lovely week in this wonderful cottage. Excellent weather, heavenly beds, good walking, trips and lovely surroundings Thank you Diane!
Another lovely short break. Magnificent hay meadows & wild flower walks every day. As ever, cottage is excellent in every way.
This is our 5th visit to West Burton. We love Inglenook. We love the Dales. We will be back!!
West Burton & Inglenook have worked their magic again. Fab Bonfire night & thank you for lovely supper & warm hospitality. See you in Dec!!!!
Spent a lot of time in this amazing (6 *+++) cottage due to awful weather. Blessing in disguise, it was the perfect holiday hideaway. Stunning village. Thank you Diane x
Faultless in EVERY respect. Gorgeous cottage, super comfortable & superbly equipped. Diane is so welcoming & full of information & recommendations. Shame we have to leave but .... WE WILL BE BACK! x
Another wonderful stay - faultless in every respect. Thank you Diane - you go above and beyond, particularly picking us up from the pub at 1.30am on New Year's Eve!! See you again soon we try much hope. x
On returning to the Yorkshire Dales after a long absence, Inglenook Cottage was the prefect choice. The cottage surpasses all requirements and has a vast amount of information on things to do and places to see. The 'Welcome Tray' is an ideal starter and a lovely touch. We have spent a lovely relaxing week and look forward to returning! The fish and chip van on a Wednesday evening is a treat and is highly recommended. Many thanks to you both.
Another great stay in a fantastic cottage x If you’ve got the legs, a walk to Carlton affords great views.
We've had a lovely short stay in Inglenook Cottage. Used one of the guide books to do a 4.5 mile circular walk from the cottage to Aysgarth Falls. Even the kids enjoyed it and we all ate well at the Fox and Hounds after. Castle Bolton and The Forbidden Corner were fantastic. Loved the cottage, it had everything we could think of and more! Thank you so much!
Not our first visit to Diane & Andrew's lovely cottages but our first in Inglenook. We came for a relaxing few days after the Christmas madness & that is exactly what we got. We always know we are in for a treat and get the best when we come here. Everything fantastic (wish we could take the bed with us!). Thanks Diane & Andrew for a great weekend. xx
Another fabulous holiday in this superb cottage - the whole experience has been fantastic including the weather and the cycling - looking forward to our next planned holiday with you.
Possibly the best cottage we've stayed in - and we've stayed in a lot! Everything has been though of to make a really comfortable visit. We've enjoyed some lovely local walks - particularly seeing the waterfalls in full flood - and some excellent local food. A truly beautiful part of the world. Thank you.
Another lovely week at Inglenook. Some changes to our last stay but all have added to the luxury. Love Inglenook. Love West Burton. Love The Dales. We will be back!
Our 4th is it to Inglenook and it continues to be wonderful with fantastic personal service from Diane, which we really appreciate. We love the small changes to Inglenook and it's such a luxurious, gorgeous place to stay with lovely little touches, such as the arrival tray. We've had fantastic trips to Malham Cove, Aysgarth Falls, the Creamery in Hawes & Berry's. Also highly recommend Wed night fish and chip van, Thank you Diane for another wonderful welcome and wonderful holiday. We can't wait to return already!
Thank you Diane and Andrew. We have had a lovely few days in your beautiful cottage. We really appreciated all the lovely extras. Hope to see you again next year. Best wishes Terry and Ros.
The perfect place for rest and relaxation. Sumptuous, silky, gorgeous. Couldn't ask for more. From the moment we arrived ... peace and comfort surrounded us. Well done Diane & Andrew. You deserve the success you have 100%.
Had a lovely bank holiday weekend with 4 full days of sunny weather (for a change!). Cottage is immaculate and far bigger on the inside than the outside would suggest. Lovely fixtures and fittings and everything you could possibly want is provided (and some!). Recommend walking Malham Cover to Gordale Scar to Janet's Foss and back to Malham. Also the Ingleton Waterfall Trail is superb, followed by White Scar Cave. Food & service at the local pub is really good. Lovely host welcome from Andrew & Diane - 5* service.
Lovely, relaxing time. Showers, waterfalls, rainbows - lots of great wet walks and pub food! Great & very comfortable cottage. This is the loveliest part of Britain! Recommend ‘fish butties’ in the George at Hubberholme and the castle & river walks (and pork pies) at Richmond!
From receipt of the Arrival Pack, the welcome tray, attention to detail within the cottage, welcome and farewell visits from Diane, have made it 'Simply the Best'.
Umpteenth time at Inglenook. Gets better each time. Fabulous autumn weekend - recommend visiting Thorp Perrow, Bedale - stunning arboretum with loads to entertain children. We will of course be back! Lovely to catch up with Diane & Andrew too xx
