Press Coverage

Whether you believe what is read in the press or not, press coverage for your business is almost always good for business. It can often come out of the blue or you be presented with an invitation or an opportunity. Here are some of the press coverage that Cottage in the Dales has received over the last few years.

Sunday Times : Ten of the Best Accessible Holidays (January 2020)

The large Sunday Times article was sub-titled 'Access all areas thanks to a number of intrepid pioneers, the world of accessible travel is changing fast'. It's the first time we've been called 'intrepid pioneers', but we do like it! Thank you Sunday Times Travel for featuring The Dairy as one of your 10 best accessible holidays in this article... ‘self-catering in style’ and showcasing The Dairy bedroom as a lead photo under the main heading! Just wow! We only found out about it late on the Sunday evening and luckily after an online plea, we received a few copies of it, for which we are so grateful.

VisitEngland Quality Matters: The rise of 'access for all' tourism (October 2018)

Cottage in the Dales is honoured and delighted to be the cover feature story in the VisitEngland / AA magazine 'Quality Matters'. This B2B magazine is for all businesses accredited to VisitEngland and is aimed to advising members on ideas to improve so many elements of the tourism offering in England. The Autumn 2018 edition cover story featured Cottage in the Dales on why and how we delivered the award-winning accessible cottage, The Dairy, in an article entitled 'The rise of 'access for all' tourism'. As a result of the article we have had a number of businesses visiting/staying at The Dairy where we are happy to share our experiences to help them deliver their accessible plans - every little helps. Sorry the article and magazine is not available to share externally (hardcopy or online), but is available to guests staying at our cottages.

Darlington & Stockton Times: Celebrations as disabled holiday cottage launched (September 2017)

The regional newspaper for the Yorkshire Dales, the Darlington & Stockton Times, along with Richmondshir Today did a super article for the launch of The Dairy when we had over 130 people enjoying a BBQ in the garden and a tour around The Dairy - the first tourist accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales to provide accessibility support for guests with mobility, hearing & visual requirements to the VisitEngland National Accessibility Scheme standards ... and is 5 star gold quality. If guests need the accessibility it is there, if not, then the majority just disappears. As Welcome to Yorkshire said "This new accommodation is absolutely fantastic – a great combination of accessibility, quality and style. Cottage in the Dales are setting the standard for others by providing a personalised service for guests of all abilities - and making it even easier for everyone to visit our beautiful county.”

Thank you to returning guests, Jill & Ian Sadler of Whitwell, Derbyshire, for being interviewed and to Paula & Mark Robinson of Guernsey for the 'story' that led to one of our newest offerings to guests.

The Daily Mirror Saturday 23 January 2018 promoted their ‘Getaway 2016’ supplement. The lead article on page 3 was as a result of a journalist visit to stay at The Byre. The article is entitled ‘Dale me in’ and also The Byre featured in their online Travel section under British Breaks ‘The glorious Yorkshire Dales really is God’s own country whatever the weather’. As the author of the article, and our guest - Jack Blanchard commented, “...our own cottage, The Byre, is surely one of the most beautiful in the Dales” and a “romantic retreat for two”. Our guests’ comments support that view and we certainly agree with Jack that “God’s Own County is grand all year round.”
