Inglenook Cottage

Enjoying the Garden

In the Yorkshire Dales, with its patchwork of dry stone walled fields, one would be hard pressed to find a location to equal the calm and serenity of West Burton.

Walk through the majestic wrought iron gates of Inglenook Cottage into an attractive Yorkshire stone flagged and cobbled courtyard adjacent to the cottage. The courtyard offers what is deemed a luxury in the Dales - private and secure parking for two cars. The courtyard also provides access to the sheds containing logs for the fire, recycling facilities and plentiful secure storage for bikes.

Immediately outside the rear stable door of the cottage, step up to a wrought-iron bordered patio to enjoy breakfast or brunch al-fresco.

From the courtyard, climb the flagged steps as they meander through the borders of mature planting to reach the elevated garden. Here one can enjoy the private southerly aspect safely enclosed by traditional dry stone walls. A choice of garden furniture provides the options of barbecue meals around the table shaded under the pergola or afternoon tea relaxing on the reclining wooden chairs in the late afternoon sun.

Even on a grey day, shelter on the bench under the unusual stone arch nestled in the original walled garden....all of which provide the panoramic view across the village rooftops to the hills beyond. The lawned garden is well equipped with barbecue, picnic set, rug, outdoor games and rotary washing line.
